Remove single "dead" Exchange server
Scenario -- remote business unit was removed from corporation unexpectedly (unexpected by me, at least...), resulting in a now non-existant Exchange 2003 server with mailboxes left dangling in AD, in Exchange System Manager, and in the GAL. To complicate things, some of the the users who had mailboxes on this Exchange server were members of the forest root domain but others were members of a child domain, the only DCs for which resided in that remote location. I have been informed that the servers will not be returned to me nor will I gain access to them (neither the Exchange servers nor the DCs). This means that I cannot uninstall Exchange or even remove Exchange attributes from all the users. HELP!!! :) Any suggestions???

Thanks, Ed! (And greetings from a long-ago Mad Techie...) I had read 90% of that KB this morning and stopped right before I got to the good part. :( BTW, I have been using your quote for more than a decade now but I always try to give you credit for it!
